If Armenia does not withdraw from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, the situation in the region will become very complicated, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry Spokesperson Eldar Sabiroglu said at an event marking 135th anniversary of the national press in Azerbaijan.
Regarding the return of the body of the deceased soldier of Azerbaijani Army Mubariz Ibrahimov, Sabiroglu said that with the help of the International Committee of the Red Cross, many appeals have been made to the Armenian side.
First, Armenian side said that the body is on the Azerbaijani side, but now, responding to requests of the Red Cross, they say that the dead body is neither in Nagorno-Karabakh nor in Armenia. Thus, according to Sabiroglu, the Armenian side is trying to hide the dead body, and this action does not correspond to any humanitarian, human norms, and that Armenia can set a very bad precedent and see the same attitude towards itself in future.
"We are confident that we will get results in returnng the dead body of ensign Ibrahimov. If this does not happen, it will once again prove the inhuman actions of the government and military circles of Armenia."
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed an decree to award Azerbaijani National Hero Ibrahimov Mubariz (posthumously) for outstanding service and bravery. Ibrahimov was killed on June 18th, in an armed incident on the contact line between Armenian and Azerbaijani troops.
