Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met his Romanian counterpart Teodor Baconschi who made a stopover in Baku on July 19.

The talks focused on a number of issues including bilateral relationship, ongoing processes in the region, energy cooperation and communication projects.

The ministers said the two countries had great potential to boost political and economic ties and energy cooperation.

Mammadyarov briefed his Romanian counterpart on settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He said the problem could only be settled on the basis of the norms and principles of international law, particularly Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

Baconschi, in turn, said his country supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, adding this position will remain unchanged.
