A meeting with George Friedman, CEO of STRATFOR, global intelligence company, was held in Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy (ADA).
The representatives of the diplomatic corps and international organizations in Azerbaijan, ADA masters attended the meeting. In his lecture on the theme “US and Near East” Professor Friedman said there has been only one super power in the world since 1991, this is the US.
“There are countries that have strong armies, but their economy is weak. There are countries – for example, European countries – that have strong economy, but do not have strong army. Taking into account all these indicators (army, economy, population etc.), U.S. can be called the only state having great power in the world,” he said.
George Friedman believes that the US has three zones of tension. They are Arab-Israel, Iran-Iraq, Afghanistan-Pakistan. According to him, the separation among the Arab countries, even the contradiction between HAMAS and Palestine Liberation Organization impede the resolution of Israel-Palestine problem.
