19 May 2010 [09:32] - Today.Az
“Pre-election situation in Azerbaijan is marked by democratic
atmosphere. All necessary conditions were created to conduct elections.
The Government of Azerbaijan is taking and will continue to take
necessary measures to hold parliamentary elections in accordance with
legislation,” said Deputy Chairman, Executive Secretary of the New
Azerbaijan Party, MP Ali Ahmadov said.
Ahmadov noted every party,
which intends to join elections, is campaigning in accordance with the
law. According to Ahmadov, the reason why opposition parties refused
to participate in previous elections is that they realized their
obvious failure without having public support
YAP Deputy Chairman
said, “Azerbaijani public has adequately defined its position.
Citizens`s participation in elections will be based on this position”.
Ahmadov
underlined local authorities and governmental bodies permitted to stage
rallies in relevant venues. YAP held rallies in those places. Ahmadov
said opposition refuses to rally there because they want to send a
message to international organizations that mass political actions are
not allowed in Azerbaijan. The second reason is that opposition lacks
social support.
“The primitive approach to political processes is an
example of frivolous attitude to these issues,” he said.
