Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Artur Rasizade met Romanian foreign minister Teodor Baconschi on March 18.

Rasizade praised the relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, adding “your current visit will serve to expand the bilateral ties”.

The Azeri PM stressed the importance of intensifying the work of a joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

Rasizade also briefed Baconschi on ongoing negotiations to solve the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Baconschi said Azerbaijan is “one of a few countries Romania enjoys balanced strategic partnership with”.

The Romanian FM stressed there was “big” potential to boost energy cooperation.

“In April, energy ministers of Romania, Azerbaijan and Georgia will come together in Bucharest, where they will sign a trilateral memorandum aimed at ensuring the access of Azeri gas to the European market,” said Baconschi.
