President Obama hosted a traditional Ramadan dinner for representatives of diplomatic corps (iftar) at the White House on Sept. 1.

Azerbaijani ambassador to Washington Yashar Aliyev was not invited to the iftar dinner.

Spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Elkhan Pplukhov confirmed the fact.

He said Azerbaijani ambassador was invited to iftar dinner to be hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Sept. 14.

Polukhov stated the ministry was not aware of the reason why Azerbaijani ambassador was not invited to iftar dinner hosted by the U.S. President.
