I think the joint use of Gabala radar station by the United States and Russia will be profitable for most sides, including both states and the region, in particular for Azerbaijan", said member of the parliamentary committee on security and defense of Azerbaijan Aydin Mirzazade.
"Azerbaijan does not play the last role in this issue, as Gabala radar station is on its territory and belongs to it", said he.
"I think if the United States and Russia are seriously inclined towards interaction, Azerbaijan could assist the countries in this issue on the one hand and on the other hand, show an example, when a small state can play a big role in the establishment of security in the world", noted the deputy.
"This issue has long been on the agenda of discussions between the United States and Russia. Each of the parties sees the pluses and minuses of the issue. On the one hand, the joint use of the radar station will reduce tensions between the two superpowers. On the other hand, it will allow each side to feel safer than today when not all the issues of international security are settled", added he.
"The variant of the joint use of Gabala radar station was not always considered prestigious before Obama's presidency. But after the assistant US Secretary of State on Defense spoke of the possible talks on this issue, it can be stated that this issue will be addressed seriously", concluded Mirzazade.
