The spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly started on May 22.

As part of the session, the committees discussed a number of issues. Among them, the Transformation of NATO, the attitude of Russia to the Euro-Atlantic security and to NATO, The fight against proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, etc.

Day.Az reports with reference to the press service of the United Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan that the due statement was made by the chairman of the party involved in the session.

According to him, today there will be completed the discussions in the committees of the NATO PA, and a plenary session will be held on May 26. The MP said, the Azerbaijani delegation at the session showed high activity, and deputies also spoke on certain issues.

Member of Milli Majlis Malahat Ibragimli addressed the theme "The period of armed conflict and violence against women". In her presentation, she noted that as a result of Armenia's occupation policy, hundreds of Azerbaijani citizens were subjected to deprivation, and most of them are women and children.

Gudrat Gasanguliev also noted that in discussing the situation in Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan and Central Asia deputy of Milli Majlis Siyavush Novruzov also made a speech.

Notably, the chairman of the Azerbaijani delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO is the First Vice-Speaker of Milli Mejlis, the chairman of the parliamentary committee on security and defense Ziyafet Askerov. The delegation was composed of Gudrat Gasanguliev, Siyavush Novruzov, Malahat Ibragimli and Tahir Suleymanov.
