Today Europe is not purely geographical or political concept, said Samed Seidov, deputy of Milli Majlis, and head of the Azerbaijani delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe speaking at the spring session, organized by the Ireli public movement.
"In my understanding Europe is not purely a geographical or political phenomenon. Europe also combines European values", he said.
According to him, many Asian countries today are playing an active part in the European space.
"Kazakhstan has become an active participant in the processes ongoing in the Council of Europe. Despite the fact that only a small part of its territory is situated on the European continent, Astana is seeking to integrate with European structures and actively consults with Baku on these issues. If Kazakhstan joins the Council of Europe, Europe will border on China", underlined S. Seidov.
According to the deputy, Europe includes the notions of "Geography", "policy" and "European values".
"Council of Europe is the first ever created organization that combined not only the geographic and political concepts, but also European values, including, democracy, human rights and the rule of law", he said.
