U.S. is against of Iran's participation in implementing Nabucco project on natural gas deliveries from the Caspian region to Europe bypassing Russia, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Matthew Bryza said in Ankara on March 12, RIA Novosti reported.

Bryza attended the international oil and gas conference in Ankara.

"At the moment, the U.S. Administration does not consider Iran's participation in Nabucco project as positive," the American diplomat said in his interview with NTV channel.

The Nabucco project worth $7.3 billion will be continuation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline in Turkey. It will transport 20-30 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

The Nabucco negotiations aim to guarantee filling the main with gas and lasts more than a year. The negotiations were activated in early 2009 after the Russian-Ukrainian gas war.

It is planned to begin constructing the gas pipeline in 2011 and gas deliveries via it - in 2014.
