The Tebriz revolutionary court has passed a decision on the case of the activists of the movement for rights of South Azerbaijanis in Iran, reports the World Azerbaijanis Congress.
By the court decision, students of the Tebriz University Sajad Radmekhr, Aydin Khajei, Feraz Zehtab, Amir Merdani, Ehsan Najafi, Mejid Makui, Dariyush Khatemi were sentenced to a year in prison.
Moreover, a verdict of not guilty was passed against students Maksud Akhdi, Mansur Aminyan.
Notably, the Azerbaijani students were accussed of propaganda against the state regime of Iran and creation of an illegal grouping to violate the national security. The aforementioned people were detained by the Tebriz security bodies in July of 2008.
