"Turkey as one of the most responsible members of the international community plays a great role in regional security, cooperation, as well as in important international issues.
Turkey’s winning a seat in UN Security Council is an important event in terms of international relations," spokesman for Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibrahim told APA.
Noting that Turkey and Azerbaijan are brother countries Khazar Ibrahim said they welcome Turkey’s winning a seat in the UN Security Council.
"We believe that Turkey will make great contribution to international relations," he said.
UN Security Council has 15 members. 5 of them are permanent, 10 non-permanent members, five of which are elected each year by the General Assembly for a term of two years.
