The 16th meeting of the CIS member-states Presidents is held in the capital of Russia.
All Presidents of the CIS member-states gathered in the Russian capital.
These are President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Kurmanbek Bakiyev, President of Moldova Vladimir Voronin, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon, President of Turkmenistan Gurbangulu Berdymukhambetov, President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, President of Ukraine Viktor Yushenko.
The due announcement was made by the press service for the Russian president.
Thus, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev taken part in the meeting for the first time to deliver a report.
The meeting discusses urgent issues of cooperation in the framework of the CIS in the economic and political spheres, in particular, development of the strategy of economic development of the Commonwealth, migration policy on the CIS area, as well as modernization of transport infrastructure of the CIS states.
The leaders of the CIS countries discussed preparations for the 65th anniversary of Victory and use of potential of the international television and radio company "Mir" for the formation of a single information area of the CIS.
16 session of the CIS Presidents, including 4 informal ones, have been held since January of 2000.
