Milli Medjlis deputies raised issue of the court hearing on the case of editor-in-chief of the Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid at a session today.
Panakh Guseyn announced that prosecutor's demand to sentence Zahid to 5 year of imprisonment contradicts to the justice of the judicial system and human rights observance in Azerbaijan.
He considers it to be inadmissible and demanded to release Ganimat Zahid.
Deputy Jamil Gasanli also spoke on the issue. He highly appreciated the decree of the President to pardon a number of imprisoned reporters, noting that three reporters are currently in jail.
"As two of three reporters are members of one family, it is possible to speak on bad state in this sphere. I have taken part in the court hearing of Ganimat Zahid and I can state that the case has been completely fabricated", Gasanli said.
