The appeal on the case of Eynulla Fatullayev, editor-in-chief of the Gundelik Azerbaijan newspaper, against the verdict delivered by the Baku Appellate Court, has been sent to the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan.

The due information has been provided by the Institute for Reporters' Freedom and Safety, Day.Az reports.

According to lawyer Isakhan Ashurov, reporter's appeal has been sent to the Supreme Court today.

The case has not yet been taken for consideration.

It should be reminded that the Baku Appellate Court upheld the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes, passed against reporter E.Fatullayev. By the decision of the Court of Grave Crimes, E.Fatullayev is sentenced to 8.5 years of imprisonment.

The editor-in-chief is charged under articles  214.1 (threat of terrorism), 283.2.2 (exaltation of national racial or religious animosity by abusing one's powers) and 213.2.2. (tax evasion) of the Criminal Code.
