The imprisoned editor-in-chief of the Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid stopped hunger strike today at 12.00.
The information was provided by Ganimat Zahid's barrister, Elchin Sadygov. He said his defendant stopped
hunger strike by request of the jail administration and his colleagues. "My client is in a bad state of health and he has heart problems", Sadygov said. It should be reminded that according to the decision of the Yasamal
district court, G.Zahid has been applied a preventive measure in the
form of a two-month arrest.
The Baku city Court of Appeal has retained the decision.
G.Zahid
is charged with violating Article 221 (hooliganism) and Article 127
(deliberate damage to human health) of the Criminal Code.
