"Reporters should not be detained for libel. I fully share the opinion of Terry Davis, Council of Europe (CE) Secretary General, adhering to the principle of inadmissibility of crime pursuit for libel", special representative of the Council of Europe Secretary General to Azerbaijan Denis Bribosia said.
Mr. Bribosia said that CE urges
Azerbaijani government to release imprisoned reporters. He stressed the necessity to undertake serious measures for combating corruption in order to improve situation in the sphere of human rights in the country.
“New technical cooperation project “Supporting Strategy on Combating
Corruption in Azerbaijan” (AZPAC) which we presented today is also
dedicated to it and envisages assistance to the implementation of
recommendations of Group of States against Corruption at CE (GRECO) suggested to Azerbaijan,” he said.
