The conference participants first visited Heydar Aliyev’s tomb in the Honor Alley, APA reports.

YAP Deputy Chief & executive secretary Ali Ahmadov linked Azerbaijan’s development and integration into the world with Heydar Aliyev. He said that revolutionary reforms were carried out during the reign of Heydar Aliyev.

YAP deputy chief Murtuz Alasgarov delivered speech on the theme "Heydar Aliyev and parliamentarism". He said that the present parliament is the successor of the parliament of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic of 1918-1920.

"Heydar Aliyev made significant contributions to the welfare of people during the Soviet Union," he said.

Alasgarov stressed that Heydar Aliyev initiated on determining the number of parliamentarians (125), adopting laws on formation of civil society, protection of human rights.

Chief of the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov spoke about Heydar Aliyev's activities for improving social welfare of the internally displaced persons. He said that Heydar Aliyev’s life should be taught to the youth and proposed to establish Heydar Aliyev University and Academy.

Ecology and Natural Resources Minister Huseyn Bagirov spoke about the activities carried out in the sphere of ecology by Heydar Aliyev and Ilham Aliyev. He noted that seven state reserves were established within four years and the area of especially protected territories reached to 915 hectares. The Minister said that 5.5mln trees were planted in the framework of the campaign "Let's plant trees".

Parliamentarians Ismayil Hajiyev and Nizami Jafarov also addressed the conference.

Book "Heydar Aliyev's course: Azerbaijan at a new stage of development" was also presented at the conference.

Following this, "Heydar Aliyev's course and Azerbaijani statehood", "Way of constant reforms", "Azerbaijan at new stage of development: results and prospects" were debated at the conference.

The conference was attended by parliamentarians, representatives of government and intellectuals.
