Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) attempted to hold a protest action outside Iranian Embassy. Police prevented protesters from holding action.
Sabail district police officers detained 6 protesters saying that the protest action is banned by Baku Executive Power. Despite the police's meddle into the gathering, protesters shouted anti-Iran slogans. As the police impeded, ANIP's reps could not read the resolution of the picket. The resolution was distributed to the journalists. The resolution called for the punishment of Iran's 'Aftabe Yazd' newspaper because it offended Azerbaijani nationals, sending pressures against the National Movement, and for education in native language for Iranian Azerbaijanis. The 15-minute incident passed without incident. The police said the detained were taken to the 9th police division and will be released after warning. ANIP members said they will keep on holding such actions. APA
