An International Conference on the Role of Media in the Development of Tolerance and Mutual Understanding will be held in Baku on April 26-28 the framework of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
The conference will bring together about 200 representatives from 49 countries and 11 international organizations. Khazar Ibrahim, press secretary of Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry-organizer of the event told the APA. Mutual relationships between government and civil society, role of media in development of these relations, issues on education and universal values will be focused on at the international conference. The OIC Secretary-General Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, popular Kazakh writer Oljas Suleymanov, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media Miklos Haraszti, OSCE Chairman-in-Office’s Personal Representative on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims Omur Orhun, Romania's former president Ion Iliesku and other high-level representatives will attend the conference.
The conference will also be attended by Azerbaijani senior officials. On the second day of the conference, the participants will visit Azerbaijani regions to get acquainted with the culture and traditions of religious tolerance.
