Armenian frontier guards have detained three Azerbaijani residents of Tezekend village in Marneuli region of Georgian, officer of Azerbaijani Embassy in Georgia Elkhan Polukhov told.
The residents Mehman Asgerov, Kamandar Mustafayev and Sadakhli village resident Huseyn Mammedov were detained in Armenian region of Noyemberian eight days ago for cutting down trees. Mehman Asgerov and Kamandar Mustafayev have been sued. Huseyn Mammedov was detained in the disputed zone between Armenia and Georgia in the border of Noyemberyan and Marneuli. "Armenian frontier guards claim the territory belongs to Armenia. Members of the commission for delimitation of Georgian-Armenian borders are investigating the territory to determine in which country’s land Huseyn Mammedov was detained. I met with Marneuli municipality head Eyvaz Ismayilov. He said that relevant organizations are dealing with the issue," Polukhov said. Elkhan Polukhov also said that the detained Azerbaijanis had contacted their families and said they are well, APA reports.
