Turkiye and Azerbaijan granted women the right to vote and be elected before many Western countries, Azernews reports, citing Turkiye's Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Cahit Baghc?, as he spoke at the conference on "Women in the Islamic World: Traditions and Challenges" held in the city of Shusha.
The ambassador spoke about the efforts to increase the participation and role of women in public and political life in Turkiye and Azerbaijan:
"In Turkiye's 2024 action plan, serious measures are planned to prevent violence against women. We also see significant steps being taken in Azerbaijan regarding women's and children's rights, important laws being passed, and various activities being carried out. As the Turkish state, we are always ready to share our experiences with official Baku in this direction. In fact, there is an action plan between our countries in this area, and we are implementing it together."
