Azerbaijanis, living in Georgia, are not satisfied with additional issue of 0.5-hectare lands. In reality it does not solve their problems, as the lands are very small and this process is carried out in slow temp.

As Trend reports referring to Fuzuli Najafov, the Deputy head of the department for Georgia of the State Committee on Azerbaijanis Living Abroad, 120 residents of the Kalinin village, Gardabanni region, received lands due to instructions of Mikhail Saakashvili, the Georgian President.

According to Najafov, new Georgian law on land allows every citizen to privatize land. The same time the law bans privatization of lands of some category due to lack of lands suitable for agriculture in the mountainous regions Dmanisi and Bolnisi, densely populated by Azerbaijanis.

"Every law, adopted in Georgia, moves Azerbaijanis away from land, but there are some ways of partial solution. For example, it is possible to allocate additional lands. In accordance with the instructions by the Georgian President, the budgetary bodies are eligible to grant lands, which are under their disposal, to the population. Besides, the population can receive the lands of the lessees, who do not adhere to rent rules. Rent increased by 10 times and reached $200 per hectare. The lands of the people, who unable to pay this sum and refuse from rent, may be also handed over to the population. Nevertheless, none of these ways is used," Najafov underlined.

He also said that the program of the Azerbaijani-Georgian intergovernmental working group made proposals on solution of such problems. According to Najafov, the reason for delay in signing of the decree on establishment of working group is generalization of the proposals, put forward by the appropriate Azerbaijani Ministries and bodies.
