Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation, met with the First Deputy Premier of Turkey, Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul during the visit to Turkey.
Azerbaijani Speaker Oktay Asadov stressed the necessity for use of experience of the parliament of a fraternal country, Trend reports. He informed that the 6 November parliamentary elections held in 2005 were democratic and transparent. Asadov noted that Azerbaijan and Turkey were not only fraternal countries, but also strategic partners. There is a favorable investment situation in Azerbaijan and around 100 Turkish companies have put investments in Azerbaijani economy over the last year, he added. Gul spoke about the reforms held in Turkey, the economic progress and work on membership at the Council of Europe. The Turkish Foreign Minister noted that he was proud of rapid development of Azerbaijan. He informed that the commissioning of the export pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan would become a great contribution in the economic progress of the two countries and noted the importance of implementation of the Kars-Tbilisi-Baku railway project in the near future. Gul voiced his satisfaction with the permanent protection of the interests of Azerbaijan and Turkey in the foreign policy.
