President Aliyev received on 25 January 2006 director of Austrian Federal Agency for the Protection of the Constitution and the Fight Against Terrorism (BVT) Gert-Rene Polli.

According to AzerTAg, during the meeting President pointed to the good level of existing relations between Azerbaijan and Austria. He said Azerbaijan is closely cooperating with the European Union now presided over by Austria, and is actively involved in its New Neighborhood Policy.

The Azerbaijani leader added that his country is an active participant in the global fight against terrorism, and continues to make its own contributions to ensuring peace and security in the region, and all over the world.

President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the existing cooperation between Azerbaijan and Austria will be further enhanced.

Head of the Austrian Federal Agency for the Protection of the Constitution and the Fight Against Terrorism Gert-Rene Polli highly valued the Azerbaijan’s role in fighting terrorism, noting that his country attaches importance to development of cooperation with Azerbaijan.

He added that the important geopolitical situation of Azerbaijan creates favorable opportunities for the country’s integration into the European Union.
