Ambassador of Azerbaijan Republic to Holy Crown (Vatican) Elchin Amirbayov presented his credentials to Roman Pope Benedict XVI.

APA was informed from Azerbaijan Embassy to Switzerland.

The presentation ceremony of the credentials was held in Apostolic Palace of Vatican with the participation of Roman Pope Benedict XVI. After the presentation, the sides exchanged views on the current and future situation of the relations between the two states briefly.

Benedict XVI expressed his support on further developing the high level relations between Azerbaijan Republic and Holy Crown asked to send his friendly greetings to President Ilham Aliyev and friendly Azerbaijani people.

He congratulated Ambassador Elchin Amirbayov on the occasion of his being appointed as first ambassador of Azerbaijan Republic in Holy Crown. It must be noted that, Elchin Amirbayov conducted meetings of introduction with state secretary of Holy Crown A.Sodano, Foreign Minister L.Sandri, Deputy Foreign Minister P.Parolin, head of protocol service T.Kaputo on the day before the ceremony.
