"As Russian pays attention to the relations with CIS states, appointment of the diplomatic corps in these countries is under the control of Vladimir Putin, the Russian President.

The process of the appointment of the new ambassador to Azerbaijan has begun. Therefore, the appointment of the new ambassador in Azerbaijan will not be realized early than summer, Peter Burdikin, the Russian special representative in Azerbaijan told Trend.

According to Burdikin, in compliance with the Russian constitution, first the candidates for the head of the diplomatic corps are chosen by the Foreign Ministry and presented to the head of the state. Afterwards, these candidates are brought out the consideration of the 2 commissions of the State Duma - on international relations and issues on CIS. The candidatures, getting the positive response after the confirmation of the Federation Council are sent to the examination of the President. "Then the agreements of the chosen candidates are sent to the country, where the ambassador will be appointed. The head of the state signs the appropriate decree after the agreement of this country. The whole process longs 3-5 months", Burdikin said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has not begun the works on appointment of the new ambassador to Azerbaijan.
