An essay competition on "Protection of environment" among senior grade students at secondary schools in Astrakhan has been launched at the initiative of Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva.

Mrs. Aliyeva, who chairs the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR), proposed conducting the competition during her meeting with members of the organization`s regional branch in school No 11 after Heydar Aliyev in Astrakhan Oblast on September 12. Leyla Aliyeva said AYOR had more than 60 regional branches, adding the Astrakhan representation was one of the most active ones.

During the visit the Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation also metodat Governor of Astrakhan Oblast Alexander Zhilkin.

Mrs. Aliyeva told the Astrakhan Governor that AYOR planned to realize several projects in the Oblast as part of the International Dialogue for Environmental Action, IDEA, in particular an essay competition among senior grade students. Alexander Zhilkin welcomed the proposal.
The competition is organized jointly by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia and Astrakhan Oblast Administration is aimed at 9th, 10th and 11th grade students.

The competition will end on 31 December – the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.
Winners will be awarded diplomas and gifts.
