President Ilham Aliyev has today received foreign delegates who arrived here to attend celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee.
"Azerbaijan has been a member of the Olympic family for the past 20 years... After 20 years, we have very good relations with federations, Olympic committees, international and European Olympic committee," President Ilham Aliyev said in a meeting.
The Head of State pointed out that the country has gained substantial experience in hosting international events such as a meeting of the Executive Committee of the European Olympic Committee, seminars, conferences as well as world cups including the U-17 world women`s football championship.
He expressed assurance that foreign delegates would be well informed about sport infrastructure, sports development and international achievements of Azerbaijan.
"I am happy that sport and Olympic movement has become part of our life, athletes and veterans are perfectly treated," he said.
For his part, President of the Polish Olympic Committee Andrzej Kra?nicki pointed out that celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee is an important event for not only Azerbaijan but also the whole international Olympic movement. He wished every success to Azerbaijani athletes.
Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation (ISSF) secretary-general Dr Mohammad S. Gazdar offered Federation`s President, Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd bin Abdul Aziz`s greetings to President Ilham Aliyev. Gazdar Mohammad Saleh said he had witnessed huge development over the past 5 years in Azerbaijan. He recalled his meeting with the Azerbaijani Leader at the London Olympics.
Head of the Slovenian Olympic Committee Janez Kocijancic pointed out that Azerbaijan`s achievements in the Olympic Games is the contribution to development of sports in Europe.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received Neelie Kroes, Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for the Digital Agenda.
Neelie Kroes said she was impressed by development processes in Baku. She thanked the Head of State for the excellent organization of the 7th Internet Governance Forum. Mrs. Kroes noted the importance of digital mass media, development of the free Internet and the E-government project.
The Azerbaijani President stressed the significance of Neelie Kroes` participation in the Internet Governance Forum.
President Ilham Aliyev said the Forum was a result of Azerbaijan`s achievements in the information and communication technologies sector.
He expressed confidence the Internet and digital mass media would continue developing in Azerbaijan. The Head of State emphasized the importance of the country`s work to establish broadband internet service.
They also exchanged views on expansion of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Commission in a number of areas, particularly the information and communication technologies.
