The delegation consisting of Turkish parliamentarians, teachers of universities and press members visited Aghdam within “Turkish Week” organised by Center for Strategic Studies of Azerbaijan.

The participants were informed about the history of the region in the meeting held in the Executive Power pf Aghdam Region. It was stressed that Armenian Armed Forces occupied and destroyed 77% of Aghdam region including Aghdam city, a settlement and 82 villages in 1993. Some 143.000 inhabitants of Aghdam settled in different regions and cities of Azerbaijan as refugees. A lot of work is done to improve the conditions of the refugees. Their main wish is to return to the homelands.

Farhad Mammadov, the Director of CSS, said that “Azerbaijani Week” was held in 5 cities of Turkey in October, 2011. The aim of these meetings is to develop the relations between the two countries.

Discussions of the perspectives of Turkey-Azerbaijan relations were held in the meeting.
