Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia (AYOR) Leyla Aliyeva yesterday met members of the organization`s regional branch in school No 11 after Heydar Aliyev in Astrakhan Oblast.
Prior to the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva toured the school which had recently undergone a major overhaul.
The facility was reconstructed at the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and with financial support of Azerbaijan`s government.
She was informed there was a total of 650 pupils, including 32 Azerbaijanis in the school, served by 42 teachers.
The school has 20 classrooms. Addressing the event, Leyla Aliyeva said AYOR had more than 60 regional branches, adding the Astrakhan representation was one of the most active ones.
On behalf of the Azerbaijani youth, chairman of AYOR`s Astrakhan branch Elvin Huseynov thanked Mrs. Aliyeva for the meeting. He noted AYOR`s regional branch in Astrakhan had more than 350 members.
The meeting ended with a question-and-answer session with Leyla Aliyeva.

Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva was awarded the medal “For Merits Before the Astrakhan Oblast”. The award was handed over to Mrs. Leyla Aliyeva in the State Philharmonic of Astrakhan city.
At the ceremony, the Governor of the Astrakhan Oblast Alexander Zhilkin noted that the “Astrakhanets and Azerbaijan are united by the Caspian Sea and the goal is to keep the nature which surrounds all of us.”
“Therefore, today dynamics of development of the relations between Russia and Azerbaijan are at high level. The evidence to that is opening of the Druzhba Bridge, the children's small town, laying of stone on the place of future monument to sacred Prince Vladimir”, the Governor said. He expressed gratitude on behalf of Astrakhanets to the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani state and Heydar Aliyev Foundation for the projects realized in Astrakhan, for the efforts directed on strengthening of the relations between two countries.
Vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva thanked for the high award. “Astrakhan is a nice city, but most of all I like people here. Ahead we’ll have a lot of projects”, Leyla Aliyeva stressed.
Then, the Russian and Azerbaijani figures of arts gave a concert. People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Polad Bulbuloglu took part at the concert.

with the Governor of Astrakhan Oblast, RF, Alexander Zhilkin.
At the meeting, the Governor of the Astrakhan Oblast Alexander Zhilkin
noted that the relations between Azerbaijan and the Astrakhan Oblast are
evidence to strategic and friendship relations existing between
Azerbaijan and Russia. He, in particular, noted existence of large
Azerbaijani Diaspora in the Oblast, who, according to him, takes active
part in socio-political life here. “Azerbaijanis work in numerous fields
in the Oblast and make their contribution to the development of
region”, the Governor stressed.
According to the Governor, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation has done a lot,
implementing numerous projects to strengthen the friendly relations
between the two states even more.
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva noted that
the Fund’s Russian representation already turns 5. “Just thanks to these
projects, our friendship will strengthen in the years ahead”, Leyla
Aiyeva underlined.
HAF Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva also noted that the Foundation plans
several projects on protection of environment, named IDEA.

An Azerbaijan-Russia friendship bridge was unveiled on Wednesday in the city of Astrakhan.
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Head of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Russia Leyla Aliyeva attended the opening ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by Azerbaijani officials, representatives of the administration of Astrakhan region, MPs, representatives of the Azerbaijani community of Astrakhan, the residents of the city. The event participants laid flowers at the monument to national leader Heydar Aliyev in the center of the city.
The decision to build the bridge was made in 2010, during the visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Astrakhan. In May 2011, as part of the Russian-Azerbaijani interregional forum "Russia-Azerbaijan: towards new horizons of interregional cooperation" the sides laid a foundation of the Friendship Bridge. The construction of the bridge is supported by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
A pedestrian Friendship Bridge connects the Heydar Aliyev Park with boulevard. The bridge railing features images of the symbols of Baku and Astrakhan - the Maiden Tower and the Astrakhan Kremlin. The bridge will greatly facilitate the transition of residents from one coast to the other.
Then the participants attended the presentation at of the children's playground "Dream", which was constructed in the Heydar Aliyev Park under the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. The playground occupies a territory of about 1,200 square meters. The children's café will be constructed here soon.
