President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today hosted a dinner in honor of President of the European Council Herman van Rompuy.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the European
Council Herman Van Rompuy have today met in presence of delegations.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that Herman Van Rompuy`s visit to
Azerbaijan was the country`s important showing of the partnership and
friendship with the European Union.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed confidence that the visit of the
President of the European Council to Azerbaijan would be very important
and productive and create good impressions in Herman Van Rompuy.
President of the European Council, in turn, stressed gratitude to the Azerbaijan`s President for the invitation. Herman Van Rompuy recalled the various meetings held with President Ilham Aliyev and expressed satisfaction with the visit.
President of the European Council also noted that the visit would create
an auspicious opportunity for discussion of expanding of the
cooperation issues between the European Council and Azerbaijan in energy
and the other spheres.

President of the European Council Herman Van Rompuy has today been given an official welcome to Azerbaijan.
A guard of honor was lined up for the European Council`s president at the square decorated with the national flags of Azerbaijan and European Union.
President Ilham Aliyev welcomed Herman Van Rompuy. Anthems of the European Union and Azerbaijan were performed.
The presidents inspected a ceremonial Guard of Honor.
Azerbaijani state and government officials were introduced to Herman Van Rompuy, while members of the EU delegation to President Ilham Aliyev.
