Interregional dialogue is one of the main aspects of strengthening
relations between Azerbaijan and Russia, head of the Russian
Presidential Administration for Interregional and Cultural Relations
with Foreign Countries Vladimir Chernov said at the third
Russian-Azerbaijani inter-regional forum in Baku today.
He said that Moscow and Baku have done much to improve their
relations based on centuries-old traditions of friendship between the
two countries.
"The unique experience of inter-state relations gives the
prerequisite for strengthening strategic cooperation and progress," he
said. "Not only humanitarian cooperation, but trade and economic indices
confirm strong strategic relations."
He added that the initiatives demonstrated by Baku and Moscow are being supported by the leadership of the two countries.
"The role of the inter-regional partnership in the context of
Azerbaijani-Russian relations is important," he said. "Currently, more
than 70 Russian regions have been involved in this process."
During his speech, he has also read out Russian President Vladimir Putin's greeting to the delegates.
"The on-going forum in Baku is one of the most effective instruments
of the interaction between Azerbaijan and Russia," the Russian
President's greeting said. "This forum is a platform for an open and
constructive dialogue between the two countries. This is a powerful
generator of ideas for the prospects of bilateral relations."
The third Azerbaijani-Russian inter-regional forum 'Russian-Azerbaijani dialogue 2012' has today opened in Baku.
The forum has been organised by the 'Eurasian Research Institute'
Development Fund with the support of the Azerbaijani and Russian
Presidential Administrations.
Representatives from the Russian central and regional bodies, large,
medium and small business, Russian and Azerbaijani NGOs attended the
forum.
