President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulation letter to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on occasion of 28 May, Republic Day.

"Dear Ilham Heydar oglu,

Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of Azerbaijan's national holiday – the Republic Day.

Azerbaijan has achieved notable results in terms of socioeconomic development and welfare of its citizens. The country’s election as a nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council for 2012-2013 is yet another confirmation of its growing international authority.

We highly appreciate the positive dynamics of Russian-Azerbaijani relations which are developing on the basis of friendship, mutual sympathy and trust. We are set to further expand bilateral cooperation, fill our strategic partnership with new and promising projects in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

I am convinced that the active political dialogue, the progressive expansion of the range of mutually beneficial relations and the deepening cooperation within the Commonwealth of Independent States serve the fundamental interests of the peoples of our countries and the goal of maintaining stability and security in Transcaucasia.

I wish you good health and prosperity, and peace and well-being to the citizens of Azerbaijan.
Sincerely,

Vladimir Putin
President of the Russian Federation
