The third scientific conference on actual problems of Azerbaijani studies dedicated to the 89th anniversary of the birth of national leader Heydar Aliyev has today started here. The event is co-organized by Department of Humanitarian and Social Sciences of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) and Baku Slavic University (BSU).
Scholars from Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Germany, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Iran and other countries as well as the ambassadors of Ukraine and Greece to Azerbaijan, deputies of the Milli Majlis, figures of culture and science, teachers and students of different universities of the country are attending the conference.
More than 200 researchers from 46 countries presented their articles to participate in the conference. The panels on Heydar Aliyev and the idea of Azerbaijanism, actual problems of linguistics, actual problems of literary criticism, actual problems of philosophy and cultural science, international relations, history, economy and the right will be held as part of the conference.
The conference participants laid flowers at the bust of national leader Heydar Aliyev at BSU.
Speaking at the conference, BSU`s rector Kamal Abdullayev underlined outstanding statesman Heydar Aliyev`s contributions to the establishment of Azerbaijan`s statehood, development of the country. The rector emphasized that this conference will play an important role towards integration of Azerbaijani science into the international scientific community, contribute to the development of education in Azerbaijan, the expansion of scientific relations.
Heydar Aliyev laid the foundation of modern Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations, which can be characterized as strategic partnership, said in his speech the Ukrainian Ambassador Alexander Mishchenko. He highlighted that the conference will give the opportunity to trace the results of the outstanding efforts of Heydar Aliyev in all spheres of life in Azerbaijan. “Today`s Ukrainian-Azerbaijani relations are the result of Heydar Aliyev`s creative work. We see Azerbaijan as the main strategic partner in this region,” the Ambassador added.
Director of the Institute of Oriental studies of ANAS, MP Govhar Bakshaliyeva pointed out that the conference creates opportunity to analyze the achievements of Azerbaijan in recent years in various spheres. She stressed that Heydar Aliyev was the undisputed leader, and thanks to him, Azerbaijan has entered on a path of stability, development and prosperity.
As Russian writer Boris Evseev noted, Azerbaijan has passed a long way of development, and experienced cardinal changes over the past 20 years. “And this is the most vivid proof what Heydar Aliyev made for Azerbaijan. His wisdom as a statesman has led to the present achievements of your country,” the writer stressed.
Professor of Tbilisi state University David Gotsiridze proposed to hold the next conference on Azerbaijani studies, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev, in Georgia.
The conference will last till May 5. Master-classes, presentation of books and magazines will be held on the sidelines of the event.
