President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed an order on the 20th anniversary of occupation of the town of Shusha by the Armenian armed forces.

Under the order, respective commemoration ceremonies will be held to mark the anniversary of occupation. The Presidential Administration will prepare and ensure implementation of the action plan on the occasion of the Shusha occupation anniversary.

Armenian troops occupied the Azerbaijani town of Shusha on May 8, 1992 leaving 195 killed, 165 wounded and 58 missing. Occupation resulted in destruction of cultural and historical monuments, museums, mosques, healthcare and education facilities.
