On April 23, the International Mugham Centre will host an event in connection with the 90th jubilee of a prominent representative of Azerbaijani mastery art, an excellent tar player, People's artist and a known doctor-surgeon Haji Mammadov. The event will be supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

Note that Haji Mammadov was born on April 28, 1920 in Shamakhy. He had interest in playing the tar in his childhood and because of his big music ability he was accepted to Folk Musical Instruments Orchestra when he was 11 years old. He worked in Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society named after M. Magomayev more than 40 years.

He attracted attention for his active, merry style of performance. He was the first tar player of classical compositions of the Russian and Western European composers. "Orta Mahur", "Choban bayaty" and other folk songs performed by him are considered the most popular. He was awarded the honorary title of "Honored artist" in 1957 and "People's artist" in 1963.
