Zhara-2017 fest continues to surprise and delight music fans on its scale and number of participants.

The first day of the festival was marked by a gala concert of stars of Russian, Georgian, Ukrainian, and Azerbaijani show business.

Today, the festival will feature the event timed to the 70th anniversary of popular singer Sofia Rotaru.

The singer arrived in Baku together with her family.

" Looking forward to meeting you!", she  wrote on her Instagram page.

Rotaru, nicknamed "the Nightingale from Bukovina", emerged in 1966 as a pop folk star in the movie "Nightingale from Marshyntsi".

Her repertoire consists of more than 40 albums and 400 songs recorded in many languages. She has received awards, deemed a Meritorious Artist of the Ukrainian SSR, People's Artist of Ukraine, People's Artist of Moldavian SSR, Laureate of the Young Communist League Prize, Hero of Moldova, and Cavalier of the Republican Order of Moldova.

The evening of Russia's famous singer Alla Pugacheva will be held on July 29.

The festival will end with fascinating concert dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Gregory Leps.

The annual music festival "ZHARA" was held for the first time in 2016 and immediately received the status of the most anticipated summer events. Considering the size of the audience, summer festival has become the largest music event in the CIS countries.
