Baku, also called the City of Winds, hosted a gala concert for its guests.

The fascinating show took place in the ancient part of Baku - the Old City, near the Maiden Tower on May 19.

Azerbaijan’s State Orchestra of Folk Instruments, Niyazi Symphony Orchestra, the State Choir Capella, Children's choir "Banovsha" and others delighted Baku audience with wonderful performances.

The event aimed to promote national musical art and to support athletes, who compete at the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games.

The concert program was supported by M?d?niyy?t’ TV channel, ‘Azerbaijan’ radio channel and the Administration of State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher" .

The Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games started May 8 and will last until May 22 in Azerbaijan’s capital. Baku welcomed up to 3,000 athletes from 54 countries of the Muslim world.

Athletes from Islamic countries around the world are representing their nations over 10 days of competition across 20 different sports which include 23 disciplines (Athletics and Para Athletics, Aquatics – Diving, Aquatics – Swimming, Aquatics – Water Polo, Basketball 3x3, Football, Gymnastics – Artistic, Gymnastics – Rhythmic, Wushu, Table Tennis, Handball, Judo and Blind Judo, Wrestling – Greco, Wrestling – Freestyle, Shooting, Tennis, Volleyball, Boxing, Zurkhaneh, Karate, Taekwondo and Weightlifting) in 16 modern competition venues in Baku.
