Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater will present Puccini's Il Tabarro opera on April 8.

Conducted by artistic director of the Munich Opera Cornelia von Kerssenbrock the opera will star theater's leading soloists of Afag Abbasova, Farid Aliyev, Jahangir Gurbanov, soloists Aliakhmed Ibrahimov, Tural Agasiyev, Nina Makarova and Talat Huseynov.

Il Tabarro (The Cloak) is an opera in one act by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Giuseppe Adami, based on Didier Gold's play La houppelande. It is the first of the trio of operas known as Il trittico. The first performance was given on 14 December 1918 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

The opera's plot is tightly focused plot centers on Michele, the owner of a barge moored on the Seine; his much-younger wife, Giorgetta and her lover, Luigi.

For the first time, Il tabarro was staged in theatre by German director Ludwig Baumann and Cornelia von Kerssenbrock in 2014 and since then enjoys great interest among art lovers.
