Azerbaijan's Carpet Museum, one of the most striking and popular museums in Baku, will host a regional workshop entitled "Jewelry art in the museum space: yesterday, today and tomorrow".

The event scheduled for  January 25-27 is co-organized by the National Committee ICOM-Azerbaijan, Azerbaijan Carpet Museum, the National Committee ICOM-Georgia, Dagestan Museum of Fine Arts named after P. S. Gamzatova, (Makhachkala, Russia) , Trend Life reported.

The workshop will cover the following topics: storage and security of jewelry in museum`s collections; conservation and restoration of jewelry; collaboration of contemporary jewellers with museums; the acquisition by museums of contemporary jewelry made in classic style and in modern style; curatorial work with jewelry collections and others.

The event will bring together jewelers, designers, artists in precious metals and stones, jewelry brands, restorers, representatives of the security service of museums, marketing managers from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Russia.

During the workshop, the participants will visit the jewelry funds of the Carpet Museum, National History Museum , the National Art Museum and Icheri Sheher Centre for Traditional Arts.

The event will also feature exhibition and sale of jewelry.

Azerbaijan’s Carpet Museum established in Baku in 1967, being the first carpet museum in the world is the very place that can familiarize all the interested with the unique examples of the national carpets.

A new carpet museum, designed in the form of a rolled carpet, opened in the Baku Seaside Park in 2014 and all carpets were transferred to this museum.
