Florian Wieder, who designed the Eurovision stages in Baku, Düsseldorf and Vienna, will once again create the stage for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The German designer will oversee the stage design for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine’s NTU reported.

Wieder’s portfolio includes the Eurovision stages in Dusseldorf, Baku and Vienna, as well as such projects as The X-Factor talent show in Great Britain and the USA, and MTV Video Music Awards.

"I love the idea behind Eurovision Song Contest, "Wieder said in a statement.

“My goal is to bring happiness and excitement for everyone involved. I’ve planned to incorporate some entirely new features which will be kept as a surprise until the show. The design for 2017 will be unique and divergent to the previous shows. ESC is not only a passion project for me, but also a creative challenge, one that is immensely inspiring for me as a designer.”

Forty-three countries will participate in the 2017 contest, that will take place in the International Exhibition Centre in Kiev, Ukraine, following Ukraine's victory at the 2016 contest in Stockholm with the song "1944", performed by Jamala.

This will be the second time the contest has taken place in Kiev, after 2005, and the fourth Eurovision event.

The contest is expected to consist of two semi-finals on May 9 and 11 May and the final on 13 May 2017.

Portugal and Romania will return to the contest. Both of whom were absent from the 2016 edition.

Diana Hajiyeva will represent Azerbaijan in the Eurovision 2017 Song Contest.

The decision was made at a jury meeting on the Eurovision song contest. Diana Hajiyeva, known by her stage name Dihaj, is a singer based in Baku who is known more recently for her experimental-pop style of music.
