Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in Baku will host the "Madama Butterfly" opera (Chio Chio San) by Giacomo Puccini on February 7.

Elena Bundeleeva, the soloist of the Belarus National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre has been invited to play one of the main roles of the play.

Mikhail Kirishev, the leading soloist of the Ukrainian National Opera will act as Sharpless hero in the performance.

These two singers are the most popular soloists in Europe. Their concert tours have been always appreciated by the public in the best European opera theatres and concert halls.

Azerbaijani artists including Sabina Vahabzada (Suzuki) and Farid Aliyev (Pinkerton) will also take part at the performance.

National conductor Yalchin Adigezalov will conduct the opera.

Madama Butterfly is a Japanese tragedy in two acts and three parts. It reveals the love story of a Japanese girl's, betrayal of her lover and tragic end. The production was created by Wilson in 1993 for the Paris National Opera. The performance has been recognized as a better interpretation of Puccini's opera in the twentieth century by the international music community.

The performance in this star lineup, will undoubtedly be an outstanding event, both in the creative activity of the theater, and cultural life of the city.

The performance will be staged at 19:00. The address of the venue is 28 May street, 8. The cost of the tickets is 12, 22 and 33 manats.
