26 March 2012 [13:15] - Today.Az
Emin has been invited to perform exclusively during the half time show of Eurovision 2012. Emin is thrilled to be performing in front of his home crowd and to a worldwide TV Audience of over 300 Million.
Born in Azerbaijan Emin is a star in both his home country and Russia, and a rising star in Britain where his second album will be released in May. Although Emin regularly performs his music to arena audiences the invitation to perform on this global stage is a life-changing opportunity and a great honour for Emin.
“It is probably the single biggest opportunity to be able to perform as a guest during the Eurovision in the country which is your home country, how often does that happen? Once in a lifetime and it’s great. Every time you perform for a big crowd it is very exciting, if you perform in your home country it is twice as exciting and if there are also hundreds of millions of people watching then it is just unbelievable. I think I don’t even understand what it will feel like but I am very excited”.
As well as being a personal highlight for Emin, he sees this as an important event for Azerbaijan saying “I think it’s an incredible showcase for my country, a small country that some people would probably not even be able to find on a map but hopefully this will inspire an interest to ‘Google’ Azerbaijan and see where it is and perhaps go there.”
On May 21st Emin will be releasing his new album ‘After The Thunder’. Recorded with Brian Rawling (James Morrison, Olly Murs, JLS, Enrique, Cher) ‘After The Thunder’ follows Emin’s 2011 album ‘Wonder which saw the singer’s signature blend of adult pop with contemporary production received extremely well in the UK, with BBC Radio 2 naming it their Album of the Week and playlisting both singles.
