Freight transportation rates in the Azerbaijani transport sector decreased by 2.8% in December 2010 compared to November, the State Statistics Committee said today. Rates on passenger transportation in this period decreased by 1.8%.
In December last year, rates on goods transportation by railway within the country and on goods shipping to other countries increased respectively by 4.6% and 1.8%. Rates on goods imported into the country declined by 5.2%, on transit goods - by 0.1%. In total as a result of December a 4.4% increase was observed in rates on international passenger transportation by railway.
Moreover, in December last year, rates on freight transportation by air to the CIS countries decreased by 0.2%, while passenger transportation increased by two percent. Rates on passenger transportation by air to far abroad countries declined by 6.6%.
Rates on freight transportation by water transport to the CIS countries and far abroad countries decreased by 0.1% and 5.5% respectively. Also during this period rates on the transportation via pipelines decreased by 0.4%.
Rates on freight transportation by vehicle transport of local importance declined by 19.5 percent in December last year, suburban and out-of-town transport - by 19.8%, rates on provided piecework decreased by 15.3%. Rates on hourly transportation by vehicle transport increased by 0.8% in December.
