SOCAR Oil Terminal in Georgia Kulevi introduces INSTEB, which is destined for cleaning (refining) of oily waters which might appear in oil industry, the terminal web site reported. This system is known as a perfect regenerator of contaminated liquids and has become widely used in oil industry.
It has demonstrated its values in practice and has become reliable since putting into operation and performed its liabilities in compliance with HSE international standards and BST HSE policies without any breakdowns and complications at all. The facility produces gradual cleaning and decontamination of oily waters by passing the contaminated substances through its sand and charcoal filters and contains a number of operations.
First stage is Oil Catcher INSTEB, otherwise called "Oil Trapping Facility" destined for withdrawal of oil and oil products and its residues from industrial and rain waters, and refining the concentration of these residues in water till admissible limits are obtained. The main technical characteristic of this facility, i.e. productivity reaches 20 m3/hour.
Second phase is three-stage filter, which is destined for double cleaning (refining) of oily waters. These filters work under laboratory control. The necessity of regeneration or changing of loading of activated coal is defined according to the laboratory conclusion.
Contents of contaminants in cleaned water after passing the filter don't exceed the established norms and on each milligram of water is: suspended particles - 3,0 mg/l, oxygen - 5 mg/l, oil products - 0,1 mg/l, surface acoustic wave - 0,5mg/l - 1,8 mg/l, PH - from 6 to 8 units.
This treatment facility is environmentally harmless; moreover it has a great ecological advantage, which is minimization of dumping oily waters in nature, efficient withdraw of valuable mixtures and use of cleaned water in other technological processes.
