Azerbaijan outperformed the Post-Soviet states, also commonly known as Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), during the first quarter with the highest rate of industrial growth at 38.6%, said the CIS Statistical Committee.

The group's top body said that industrial growth was 25.6% in Turkmenistan, 12.5% in Ukraine, 12% in Uzbekistan, 9.6% in Kazakhstan, 8.4% in Russia, 5.9% in Belarus, 5.2% in Tajikistan, 4.3% in Armenia and 1.1% in Kyrgyzstan. Moldova's industry suffered 11.5% decline. The statistical body said it hasn't got the latest data about Georgia.

The average growth of the Gross Domestic Product in former Soviet republics grew 8% in the first quarter (5% the same period last year), industry 9% (4%), fixed investments 19%) (9%), retail trade 15% (12%). Azerbaijan enjoyed the highest economic rate of 29.7% and followed by Armenia 11.1%, Uzbekistan 9.1%, Belarus 8.4%, Ukraine 8%, Kyrgyzstan 7.3% and Tajikistan 5.3%. APA-Economics
