As of April 1, the amount of loans, including non-performing loans invested in the economy of Azerbaijan doubled year-on-year reached AZN 2.8734 billion for the first quarter of 2007.
The National Bank of Azerbaijan told that AZN 1.4249 billion (49.6%) of the credits were invested in national currency and AZN 1.4484 billion (50.4%) in foreign currencies. ? State banks had a share of 48.8% in the credit investments, private banks 48.7% and nonblank credit organizations 2.5%, APA reports. AZN 705.4 million (24.6%) went to trade and service sector, AZN 876.8 million (30.5%) to households, AZN 232.2 million (8.1%) to transportation and communications sector, AZN 196.3 million (6.8%) to industry and production sector, AZN 136.2 million (4.7%) to agriculture and processing, AZN 348.3 million (12.1%) to energy, chemical and natural resources sector and AZN 176.9 million (6.2%) to construction and property sector. Credits worth AZN 6.9 million (0.2%) were lent to government bodies and AZN 2.1 million (0.1%) to public organizations. The Finance sector took AZN 52 million of the credit investments, other sectors AZN 11.6 million.
