Azerbaijan's Communication and Information Technologies Ministry has restricted the transmission of Turkey's TRT channel for seven hours.

Director of the Ministry's Teleradio Unit Mikhail Abbasov told the APA that it is related to electricity. As TRT channel does not pay for its broadcasting, the Unit had to pay the electricity bill. But now the Unit decided to cut the hours of transmission due to financial problems.

The channel used to be broadcasted for 18 hours a day, but no it was reduced to 11-hour broadcasting. The broadcasting stoops after the first night TV program is over.

Abbasov noted that it will go on this way until TRT channel contracts with Azerbaijan for the transmission. If there is not contract, the National Television and Radio Council will have to pass decision about the broadcasting of TV channel.

The channel has been broadcasting in Azerbaijan for two years without a contract. The cannel is being broadcasted in 50% of the republic territory-in Baku, Ganja, Nakhchivan and some other regions.
