Russian energy monopoly Unified Energy System is ready to replace Barmek Company in Azerbaijan and to run electricity in Baku and Sumgait.

The leadership of the Company says that the exact time must be determined for it. Boris Zverev, INTER RAO UES of Russia spokesman, states that Azerbaijan didn't send any official application about this issue. If Azerbaijan addresses connected with this issue we'll take appropriate measures.

Meanwhile, Marlen Asgarov, the vice-president of Azerenerji Joint-Stock Company, says that he wouldn't offer INTER RAO UES for working in Azerbaijan.

According to the information, given from Economic Development Ministry, this issue is not focus of attention in Azerbaijan at present.

INTER RAO UES is a functioning operator of electricity exports and imports in the territory of Russia. The company represents the interests of the two largest Russian power sector's participants: RAO UES of Russia and "Rosenergoatom" concern, which possess 60 and 40% of the shares respectively.

The Company was formed in May 1997 upon the decision of its founder, RAO UES of Russia, as of 20 August 1996 No.13?, in compliance with the Civil Code of the Russian Federation, the Federal Law "On Joint-Stock Companies" and other statutory acts of the Russian Federation. ANS
